Publishing and Peer Review Ethics Policies
The Academic Journal of Social Sciences is committed to applying the highest ethical and professional standards in the publishing process, in accordance with the guidelines of international organizations (such as COPE) to ensure the integrity and quality of published research, which are as follows:
First: Scientific Integrity and Publishing Controls
The researcher must adhere to all research ethics when preparing their research and must maintain good societal values and norms in what they publish. The responsibility for the opinions and the accuracy of information and data contained in the published materials lies solely with their author, and those opinions do not necessarily express the views of the journal's editorial board.
The journal conducts a thorough plagiarism check for each research submitted for publication using specialized software to ensure the scientific integrity of the researcher. The total plagiarism rate in the research (excluding references and specific terminology) must not exceed 25%, and the plagiarism rate from each single source must not exceed 3%.
The journal's policy clearly defines authorship criteria, where authorship should be limited to those who have made a substantial contribution to the conception, design, execution, analysis of the results, or writing of the manuscript, and all listed authors must approve the final version for publication.
The journal adheres to the Copyright and Licensing Policy (detailed in the "Copyright and Licensing" section), which specifies the method of copyright transfer and the adopted Creative Commons license (CC BY 4.0), ensuring the preservation of authors' intellectual property rights and making content openly available with proper attribution.
Authors must disclose any financial or personal conflicts of interest that could affect the research results or their interpretation, using a dedicated disclosure form. Referees and editorial board members must also disclose any potential conflict when handling any research.
Second: Peer Review Process and Ethical Oversight
The editorial board conducts an initial assessment of the research upon receipt to ensure its compatibility with the journal's scope, authorship conditions, and principles of ethical oversight (such as ethical approvals from relevant bodies if required). If the research is preliminarily unsuitable for publication, the journal notifies the researcher immediately.
The decision to accept submitted research for publication is based on the recommendation of the editorial board and the referees. Research that passes the initial check is sent to two expert referees for evaluation using a confidential method based on the Double-Blind Peer Review methodology.
Referees base their decisions on strict criteria including: scientific and practical value, originality of ideas, accuracy and currency of literature, soundness of scientific methodology, and appropriateness of data. The editorial board makes the necessary effort to shorten the time required for the peer review process and reach a decision on each research submitted to the journal.
Third: Handling Complaints, Appeals, and Post-Publication Issues
The journal follows clear and announced procedures for dealing with author complaints related to editorial decisions or the peer review process. The author has the right to appeal the final rejection decision by providing justifying evidence, and the appeal is reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief or a specialized committee.
The journal encourages authors to share their primary research data (wherever possible and ethical) to enhance reproducibility and transparency. Authors should indicate the availability of data and how to access it in the manuscript.
The journal provides clear options for dealing with issues that arise after publication, including:
Open Access Policy
